Iseltwald is known for its little bay, its fine restaurants and the little island called «Schnaegge-Inseli» (transl. snail island), which lies just off the village in Lake Brienz. Historically Iseltwald has been known as the fishing village on Lake Brienz and to this day freshly caught fish of Lake Brienz can still be ordered in the local restaurants. Although the actual village is quite small, the community of Iseltwald owns property way up the mountainside to its south, which is still used as summer pastures by the local farmers.
